Who is responsible for infertility?

In my initial post, i had said the number one reason marriages end is lack of sex or having a poor sex life. However, i got some clarification today so of course i am extending it to you guys. That reason is valid for men but not for women. The number one reason women leave their marriages is finances.
Main reason for sex issues in marriages/relationships, is lack of communication.
You need to tell each what works.
Cool?
Cool!

In other news, I was reading some ob/gyn stuff recently and saw some interesting stuff about infertility and we also talked about those very, very interesting stats today.

Nigeria is a male dominated society, no doubt about it. So of course when a couple hasn't had kids within 2 years of marriage everyone starts harassing the woman. They won't let her drink water and put cup down. My cousin was telling me how his mom has said she's not coming to his house until his wife has a baby. He just finished building a freaking mansion in Lekki, yet e mama no gree come. People never marry finish, people are already talking about when are you having a baby.

I watched a video over the christmas break of a woman who had gone to a pastor for infertility issues and as part of her deliverance or whatever you want to call it, he had to f*ck her (sorry for being so crass, but that's just the best way to describe what i saw). He was literally having sex with her while shouting "power, power" or some bull shit, which she was shouting back. Unprotected sex might i add. This man was butt naked, in some illicit location, sticking his penis into somebody else's wife all in the name of deliverance from infertility. My heart hurt just watching that and i thought of countless women who have gone through that. She gets pregnant, she would thank the pastor profusely and thank God for her "miracle". Who is the baby for? Her husband or the pastor? This is just one of the many reasons why i am so against the Nigerian version of Christianity. God has many things to judge when he comes.

Anyway, just so you guys know if you didn't already, 50% of infertility is caused by the MAN and by infertility i mean a couple who has been trying to have a child while having unprotected sex for at least a year. Anything under a year, does not qualify as infertility and the only time they would do a work up before a year is if the female is 35 and older because time is running out for her. Anyhoo, 30% of infertility is caused by the female and the most common cause of this is pelvic inflammatory disease. Chlamydia (which is an STI) is the  main cause of this, and if i remember correctly, sometimes you don't even have symptoms, but it ends up scaring your fallopian tubes leading to infertility in the future. The recommendation now is not to bother doing routine testing for Chlamydia above age 26, because by that time you are less likely to be infected by it due to changes in your vaginal lining. Less than 26, chlamydia still likes you and your vagina :) (It has to do with the type of cells that line your vagina which changes by the time you are 26, for most females). Regardless, if you have been having unprotected sex, you should always get tested for STI's and don't leave anything to chance.

The remaining 20% is due to miscellaneous causes. But the main point is 50% of infertility is caused by men, so believe it or not, when a couple is getting worked up for infertility, they check the man first (or at least that's the correct answer on the boards).

This is just an FYI.

Good night.

My stress is 100/100 at the moment. I can't believe i can still blog.

  1. Well, you're the expert, or soon to be. I know that we both got tests, and that seems to be the MO of modern fertility doctors. As for the pastors and those in Nigeria who play on the emotional fears of women and desire for a child, they will surely get their portion in hell.

    1. Yeah, I agree with u, but technically they start with d man. However, book is different from actual practice, so a Dr can chose to test u both at d same time.

People that r going to hell are plenty. It's so sad.

  2. How are women even that daft to go to such pastors? Clearly they don't read their bibles. To carry all your money and give pastor is one thing, but to actually go to deliverance sha- shm!

Na wa, you actualy watched the video- as in someone actually recorded?

    Oh well!

    1. I watched it with my korokoro eyes. At one time u can see him shooing the person recording with just a hand motion but he didnt stop what d was doing and d person didnt stop recording.

    2. I wondered if it was a set-up, because when the so-called pastor waved to the man by the door, to go away, the man continued recording. And the woman's eyes were closed tightly, so she didn't know what was going on!

  3. Thank you for sharing this information on infertility, because the blame is always at the doorstep of women! I watched the video also, and was shocked! Have heard of such things, but my first time of seeing it. Yes, the fake testimony would be given as usual!

Finances play a major role in a marriage! When there is CONSTANT lack, a woman might be forced to look outside, this is one of the causes of infidelity on a woman's part and eventually divorce. Communication also plays a part. But SEX and MONEY comes first and second.
