Fear Catch Me

Talking to my mom right now after talking to my sister who is an RN/FNP. I'm still going through residency orientation and today we were given a tour of one of the hospitals, i only saw ONE other black person in the entire hospital. Talk about pressure, i feel like i'm representing the whole black race. I don't want to be the dumb black intern, too much stuff going through my head right now. My co-residents all have the same fears i do, but i just feel like my solitary blackness is adding more pressure on me.

I'm stressed out!

  1. Breathe in.... and out.... You will be fine. You have come this far, I think that is evidence that you are not dumb.

  2. Its okay to be fearful. You didn't chose the circumstance or environment, but you can choose to rise above your fears and be the best at what you do. That's all the motivation you need. Best wishes always!

  3. I feel like that sometimes, as there's only one other black person in my company. but hey, you will be fine. You have come this far, and you are representing just you, not the black race. Don't add that stress to an already hectic residency life. You'll do fine :-)

  4. Unshake! You'll do just fine Dr Sting...

  5. You'll be okay...don't entertain fear
